Product Marketing Manager Job Description



Primary responsibilities:
  • Provide in-depth market, industry and competitive analysis and positioning
  • Develop pricing and packaging strategies
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop sales tools and training
  • Develop and manage customer care programs
  • Work with the team to develop innovative marketing programs and show event campaigns
  • Develop content for product and company collateral

Required Experience & Knowledge:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Marketing Manager
  • Prior experience marketing enterprise-class software
  • Knowledge of the Internet and prior experience utilizing the web as a marketing vehicle
  • Demonstrated success in product launches and end-to-end execution of marketing strategies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation experience to large and diverse audiences
  • Ability to do product demonstrations
  • Seasoned experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Education:
An undergraduate degree is required and an MBA is highly desired.



Product Marketing Manager (or Business Development Manager)



The Product Marketing Manager (PMM) will create and maintain the business plan for the markets served by our product line. In this role, s/he will articulate the company’s distinctive competence and the product’s unique advantage. In support of the business case, the PMM will perform qualitative and quantitative research with existing customers and potential prospects. In addition, the PMM will perform sales, trend, and profitability analysis. As the key business manager on the product, the PMM will interface with industry thought leaders and strategic partners. The PMM will work with decision makers in marketing communications and sales management to ensure that the product is correctly communicated to the market.

This position reports to the VP of Marketing

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field. MBA a plus
  • 3+ years managing and promoting high technology products, from development through launch and sales ramp up.
  • History of product management accomplishments and initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently
  • Experience developing relationships with suppliers and co-marketing partners highly desirable
  • Travel: 40%


Product Manager (or Technical Product Manager)



The Product Manager is responsible for the technical health of the product. This includes on-going technology assessment within the context of the competitive landscape. In addition, the PM will perform on-going win/loss analysis to better understand the features that are required for improved sales success. Based on market-driven feedback from customers and prospects, the PM will write clear product requirements. The PM will work closely with development managers to define the contents and delivery of a product release.

This position reports to the VP of Marketing

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field, with high academic achievement
  • 3+ years managing high technology products, from development through launch
  • History of product management accomplishments and initiative
  • Ability to write clear market-driven product requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently
